SOUQ BAB AL-SARAY
This is the largest heritage marketplace in Old Mosul's market zone. It is a series of intersected organic and narrow roads the each is specialised in trading specific products and items. Road width ranges between 1.0 to 2.0m, with some relatively large areas at roads intersections.
This souq is of high importance and role for the local community of Mosul. It hosts several products that sell a wide range of products, such as food, clothes, cookware, herbs, soap, and fabrics. Furthermore, it hosts Old Mosul's handicrafts marketplaces, such as Safareen, Hadadeen, Bazazeen and Atareen. This souq has been restored after the war and many of its hertiage marketplace have come back to work. However, by time and as a result of the last war in 2017, this souq has lost many of its heritage structures and heritage activities, such as old handicrafts.
