Tarkib Organization for Arts and Culture

Tarkib is a collective platform dedicated to promoting emerging and mid-career Iraqi artists. They organise the annual Tarkib Baghdad Contemporary Arts Festival and the Baghdad Walk, which includes workshops and a group exhibition in Baghdad's public realm. The collective operates Bait Tarkib, a creative art centre in Karada-Baghdad, offering a diverse program of artistic and cultural events, training, and workshops. Tarkib also focuses on researching Iraq's modern and contemporary art to provide public access and comprehensive information. Their mission is to introduce contemporary art to the Iraqi creative and cultural scene while building a contemporary identity through artistic expression.

Tarkib is a platform for the research, training, production and presentation of contemporary art where the pressing questions of our time can be openly formulated and discussed. Dedicated to promoting emerging and mid-career Iraqi artists, Tarkib is a collective that unite artists and cultural practitioners from different art disciplines, ages and souls.

Tarkib's mission is to introduce contemporary art in the form of artivism (artistic activism) to Iraq. Tarkib artists incorporate human rights and climate themes into their work, raising awareness and stimulate discussion and promote an open dialogue on issues such as climate change, rights of girls and women, migration, child labor, questions of identity and culture of remembrance, and many other humanistic and existentialist questions.
