Zakho is a local non-profit organization founded in 1991, focusing on community development especially in rural areas of Iraq. Its mission is to empower vulnerable groups in rural communities to live a just and sustainable life. The organization works to enhance food security, promote income-generating activities and provide vocational skills to youth, women and internally displaced persons. In addition, Zakho Association seeks to improve access to clean water and sanitation, promote gender equality, end violence against women, children and youth, empower rural women, support poor and disadvantaged individuals and groups, conserve land and water resources, and prioritize agriculture and rural communities during development processes.
